If you compile this âCOLOR.TXT file into an EXE, and then run the EXE, you will notice that certain lines and blocks of characters âstand out from the rest of the document. This is because color codes have been used throughout this document to add âemphasis to certain areas. Color codes are single characters that ãYOU must add to the your TXT files âPRIOR TO compiling them into an EXE. Although there are only 5 color codes at this time, you can spruce up your documents nicely with them. The color codes are added into your TXT files by using the ãALT key in conjunction with your numeric keypad. The numeric keypad is the group of keys at the far right of your keyboard á(see example below): àÚÄÄÄÂÄÄÄÂÄÄÄ¿ à³ 7 ³ 8 ³ 9 ³ àÃÄÄÄÅÄÄÄÅÄÄÄ´ à³ 4 ³ 5 ³ 6 ³ àÃÄÄÄÅÄÄÄÅÄÄÄ´ à³ 1 ³ 2 ³ 3 ³ àÃÄÄÄÁÄÄÄÅÄÄÄ´ à³ 0 ³ . ³ àÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÁÄÄÄÙ For instance, the first color code we will introduce you to is the âalpha character. It is created by holding down the àALT key with your left hand, and while ãSTILL HOLDING THE ALT KEY DOWN press â224 on the numeric keypad. Then release the àALT key. What you will see appear is a Greek âalpha character. What does this special character do? It causes all characters on the same line following itself to be displayed with black text on a gray background á(see the numeric keypad above for an example). The color code will be in affect for the entire line. Once the end of the line is reached, the color code is automatically turned off. Should you want to turn the color code off âPRIOR TO the end of the line, then use the àALT + à1 key code (the resulting character will look like a smiley face). Other color codes include àALT + à225 (which produces áblack on áblue), àALT + à226 (which produces âbright white on blue) and àALT + à227 (which produces ãbright red on blue). That's all there is to it! With these color codes you can make your text come ãALIVE! Although not a color code, you can create a horizontal line in your compiled EXE by adding a àALT + à12 in your document like the one above and below. Enjoy!
